One of my favorite trends from Spring 2015 runway is the choker necklace, seen everywhere from Balmain, Chanel, Ralph Lauren, DKNY to many more. This DIY is inspired by one of my favorites — the Balmain black and gold choker necklace. I used patent leather (faux) to get the glossy finish and chain to add the gold accent, and I opted for a slightly narrower size so I can incorporate it in my everyday outfits. I love the versatility of choker necklaces, they look great both with tee and jeans or with dressier outfits. Chokers are definitely an effortless way to upgrade any look.

Here’s what you’ll need for the DIY:

  • Patent (Faux) Leather (I used an old belt)
  • Gold Chain
  • E6000 Glue
  • Pinch Crimp Cord Ends
  • Clasp and 2 Jump Rings
  • Jewelry Pliers & Scissors

Step 1: The width of the leather I used was 1.5 cm. To get the length, measure around your neck. Let it be a little snug when you measure since it’ll loosen when you add the cord ends and clasp.

Step 2: Measure and cut two pieces of chain a little shorter than the length of the leather piece. Using E6000 glue, add the chain pieces to the top and bottom edges of the leather.

Step 3: On one end of the leather, add a cord end and a clasp. To the other end of the leather, add another cord end and the second jumpring.

There you have your Balmain inspired choker necklace for spring! I also love the black and white striped DKNY choker. You can get a non-patent leather, paint the stripes with white acrylic color and seal it with acrylic sealer. What are some of your other favorite trends for Spring/Summer 2015?

Chockers are back to fashion with an unpredicted acceptance among youngsters. They are favorites with western wear as well as women are wearing them gracefully with contemporary Indo-Western outfits too.
