Happy New Year lovely readers! I hope 2014 is the best year yet for everyone. I spent my holidays in sunny Jamaica and if you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen some of my photos. It was the perfect escape from the cold Chicago winter even if it was only for ten days. I’m ready to start the new year and bring many more fun DIYs for you. To kick off, we have an emerald green rope belt with gold accents. I’m wearing it with a playsuit here but it is perfect for dresses or sweaters as well.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Rope (Twice your waist size)
- Gold Barrel End Caps (Size to fit two ropes)
- Gold Toggle Clasps
- Two Jump Rings
- E6000 Glue
- Jewelry Pliers & Scissors
Step 1: Take the rope that is twice the size of your waist and cut off an inch from one end. This will make sure the belt isn’t too loose when you add the clasps at the end. Then fold the rope in half.
Step 2: Add a drop of glue inside each of the barrel end caps.
Step 3: Insert one end of the folded rope from step 1 in one of the barrel caps and repeat on the other end. Let the glue dry for at least 15 minutes.
Step 4: With the jump rings and pliers, attach the toggle clasps to the end caps.
Let the glue dry a little longer and then your rope belt is ready to accessorize any of your outfits!
Play around by mixing and matching different color or thickness ropes. If you wrap it around twice, this could also double as a simple rope necklace. Until next time, get your creative fix and stay HIGH on DIY!
Thank you again for all your love in 2013, here’s to another beautiful year!
