I am back from my long vacation and ready to get back to DIYing. I hope everyone had a lovely summer break as well! Fall is almost here and this DIY will help you transition easily from summer to fall. I picked up this beautiful embroidered mesh fabric and created a full midi skirt from it in this DIY. Since the mesh is very sheer, I wore a basic fitted short skirt underneath. I used a black one as I wanted the gold embroidery to stand out. I love the covered top and see-through bottom effect. I paired the skirt with a crop top here which is more spring/summer than fall but I have seen some fun ways to wear the same see-through midi on the fall 2014 runways. It seems like the midi is continuing to stay on trend for spring 2015 as well so this will be one very versatile DIY skirt!

Creating this full midi skirt is very simple as long as you take the waist and skirt length measurements correctly. I did not use any patterns to create it. The steps in this video tutorial are closest to how I created mine. I used faux leather for the waist band and along the zipper as it adds some structure to the light-weight mesh.

I can’t wait to wear it out one of these days and I will be sure to Instagram it when I do. Until next time, get your creative fix and stay HIGH on DIY!
